The Phoenix White 2s had consistent turnout all season which contributed to the team’s solid performance this summer. Going 5-5-2 in the regular season, White pulled off a big 7-1 win in the crossover to make it to the 5th place game against the Omegas, who had been a tough opponent in a 0-2 loss at the end of July. In a brilliant performance, they pulled out the narrow but well-deserved 1-0 victory and locked up 5th place!

These super pretty birds fought hard all season, sometimes with lots of players, sometimes not so much (because, August!). After a 4-7-3 record, Rosé landed at 6th spot after a close 1-2 loss to Titans in the last playoff game. Did I mention how pretty they are though?

The story with our spirited Blacks was one of fighting through adversity. Despite playing at least a little short almost every game (and sometimes 2 or 3 players down!), their 6-1-4 record was good enough for 2nd in the regular season. They weren’t able to overcome a single early goal scored by the Astros in the semi-final game even after buzzing the opposition goal for most of the second half, and so headed the 3rd place game with 9 players against a much-improved Odd Squad.
The Odds struck with two of their trademark breakaway goals in the first half. After a gripping, tough love-filled halftime talk, Black went out with a compressed structure and stormed back to tie the game at 2-2. A missed penalty corner opportunity turned into another opportunistic goal for the Odds and it was time to cue “Right Here, Right Now.” A PC called at the death of full-time needed to be converted and the straight shot smacked the backboard, extending the game for some Golden Goal goodness. Only a couple of minutes into the extra frame and another penalty corner goal on a low drag flick sealed the comeback win!
